Osseo-disintegration of endosseous implants with biophysical methods (ODIN)

Implants can irreversibly grow in human bone (osseointegration). For removal implants must be milled out, which causes significant bone defects. The aim of this joint research project is a atraumatic, intentional osseo-disintegration. For this purpose, a controlled, thermal impulse is applied as homogeneously as possible to the implant-bone interface in order to reverse the osseointegration. As a heat source, different methods should be tested to ensure optimal process control.
